Filling Orders and Partnering with Local Businesses
In February, our Fulfillment associates worked hard to fill 12,913 orders. They also started filling the shelves in preparation for Charles Payne’s next Town Hall event and continued their training in our print shop.
In addition to our everyday tasks, associates also had the chance to work on a special project. They decorated wooden boxes and metal pails, then filled them with handmade candy flower towers. We sold several of the towers for Valentine’s Day, and plan to continue offering them for Mother’s Day and other special occasions.
“Many of our associates are very creative and artistic,” said Operations Supervisor Abigail Deiter. “We love providing opportunities for them to use and build those skills while they are here. It’s especially gratifying when we can do that while generating extra revenue to provide them with even more valuable experiences.”
Outside of work, Ella, a youth black belt at the local taekwondo studio Advantage Martial Arts, organized a special class for our Fulfillment House associates on February 22. Students at the dojang volunteered their time to demonstrate their skills and teach the associates some basic techniques, forms, and self-defense. It was a wonderful experience for both our staff and the volunteers who coordinated the event. While Brent, one of our associates, was already a student at Advantage and enjoyed lending a hand, Dasia, another dedicated Fulfillment House associate, signed up and began her own martial arts journey.

“Partnering with local businesses in our area can be so valuable for everyone involved,” said Executive Director Kurt Hamilton. “By participating in activities like this, our associates not only get physical activity and a chance to try something new, but they also integrate with our local community and learn from one another.”
